Called Out, Blog 9 (The Post)

Today you read the article, Called Out on your own. In the article you read about why and how to intervene when friends are engaging in destructive behavior. The article discusses behavior problems, warning signs and strategies that can be used.

You have 3 questions to answer on the blog. 

Be sure to read the question carefully and completely answer the question.


1.What is an intervention? Give two examples.

2.List 3 warning signs that someone needs help.

3.Imagine that you need to get advice or help of an adult to help a friend in trouble.  Use information from the article to write guidelines that you and your classmates can follow.

  2. 1.) An intervention is to deal with something, pr get out of threats, also stop doing what ever your doing. An example of an intervention might be when a person gets mad and a adult tells you to stop doing when you are hitting or kicking something. Another example might be when someone is on drugs people tell him/her to stop.

  3. 1.)An intervention is escaping from harmful or threat. An example of an intervention might be when someone might stop a fight.Another example of an intervention might be a family might stop a sister to sister fight.

    2.) 1. Erratic behavior
    2. Someone you can count on but breaks off plans

    3.)The purpose of these guidelines is to give advice, tell there parents, parents can talk to them.Step 1: Is to give them perfect advice. Step 2: Tell there parents and let them talk to them.Step 3: Go to lunch with them and talk about there problem.

  4. 1.An intervention is a group of people who are making a attempt to stop their bad habits.An example of intervention might be when a person did drugs and they are trying to stop their bad habit by joining a group. Another example of a intervention might be a therapy program.

    2. They aren't eating
    3. They are getting beat up

    Step 1:Try to talk to them.
    Step 2:Tell a friend. See if they could try to help too.
    Step 3:Tell the school counselor. That's one way to get them help.

  5. 1. An intervention is to help people escape from harmful habits and threats. An example of an invention might be when a counselor might call someone in a meeting. Another example of an invention might be a family member or a friend might have a serious discussion.

  6. 1. An intervention is when you attempt to stop someone's destructive behavior. An example of an intervention might be a person you know uses drugs and you tell an adult so they can get help. Another example would be a friend who is into self abuse and you try to tell them to stop.

    2. A few warning signs that a friend might need help are:

    *Someone who doesn't seem to have fun unless alcohol or drugs are involved.
    *A friend who wanted to lose weight but lost so much it's unhealthy.
    *A friend who spends most of their time sending hurtful messages on the computer.

    3.The purpose of these guidelines is to help a friend to stop harming them self, to stop drinking, or to stop using drugs. The first step would be to stop them from harming them self if I saw it happening. Then I would make sure they didn't use drugs or drink alcohol when I was around. Finally I would tell their parents to make sure they got a counselor to to help with their addiction. Brianne M.

  7. 1. An intervention is when someone is trying to get you out of a bad habit An example of an intervention might be when a friend is bully and you try to get an adult to help stop it. Another example of an intervention is when a friend is out of control like they are getting bad grades or when they are doing something they are not uses to doing i could help them get back on there feet.

    2. One warning signs that are friend needs help is one when they are not there selfs or when they are use to getting good grades or even when is when a friend looks tired and depressed those can show signs that a friend can be doing drugs or have a eating disorder or just going through a hard time.

    3. if I need advice i would first ask my friend what i could do to help her and if that does not help I would watch them to see if they stop. Then my next step would be two to show them why is wrong.
    Also if my friend still would not stop I would ask an adult for there help then i would go to a family for help and ask them what they have do to help and last i would ask the counselor to talk to my friend about him/ her problem. Moli,M

  8. If a friend abused alcohol drugs I would tell them to go see a theirpist. If a friend was into self-abuse I would tell to go see a consilure. If a friend had an eating disorder I would tell them to try plant fitness and work out world and I will join that person or I will tell them to goon a diet.

    Step 1:ways to help stop abusing parent is to tell a teacher at school to call a police .
    Step 2: ways to help student to stop bulling tell the teacher or principal and tell them what they did.

    2. You feel like you are babysitting your friend. You used to count on he\she and now they are letting you down . An if they threatening or violent it's time to do something.

The purpose of these guidelines is to help a friend step 1. i would talk to them and tell them i am going to tell someone if they don't stop. step 2. if they don't stop i will ask a counselor to talk to them . step 3. i will tell there parents what they are doing . Then they will have to go to a programs to get help.

Another example of an intervention might be stopping someone from breaking a expensive machine.
