  1. The narrator in this text is the Ordinary Son. I think that the author chose this voice because the boy was different from his family. In the story when the boy was in Garret's room. He says, "I was free.". This helps me understand that the boy was okay not being a genius.

  2. The narrator is writing this story from the ordinary son's point of view. I believe the author chose this voice because the son not being a genius would help the reader understand that being different is okay. In the story when it says that Him and his brother Garrett walked to school and did their own laundry. This shows that even though they are the youngest they have to do things for themselves and they didn't complain about it. This helps me understand that when something doesn't happen when you want it to you should just do what your supposed to and wait patiently for it to happen. Another thing that the author states is that when the genius gene passed over the ordinary son he felt relieved. This tells me that standing out in something is not a bad thing. I liked the way the author used this voice because he says that living up to a high title can be a lot of pressure but you shouldn't let it mess with your head. Brianne M.

  4. #1:The narrator in this text is Victor. I think the author chose this voice because he is a kid and many people understand kid 'talk' than adult talk.
Here is a quote that shows this voice:, "Frenchie oh wewe gee in September". Its very funny. This helps me understand that he does NOT know french.
Here is another quote that shows this voice:, "Spanish. I ain't so good at it, even if im Mexican. It also lets me understand that he is a kid and he doesn't know proper language. I liked the way the author used this voice because people my age understand this. -Antonio V.
#2: In this story, Seventh Grade is similar to a time in my own life. For example, for my 7th grade, I had a goal to get high honors and I did. Another similarity is that I wanted to have more friends and I did make more. One difference I noticed was that we couldn't choose our classes. I think this similarity and differences show that they trust their students more than ISAAC.- Antonio V.

  5. The narrator in this story is Gary Soto. I think the author chose this voice because he wanted to better capture Victor's feelings throughout the story. Here is a quote that shows this voice:" Victor raised his hand, trying to impress Teresa." This helps me understand that Victor likes Teresa and is trying to look cool in front of her. Here is another quote that shows this voice:"He stared at the board, wishing he had taken spanish, not French." It helps me understand that Victor's French skills need improvement.

#2 This story was similar to my experience in seventh grade. On my first day, we didn't have any classes. But we did have the same procedures as Victor. We got computer numbers and all that good stuff. I also got freaked out when the teacher called on me and i didn't know what to say. I think that these similarities and differences show that my first day of middle school was very similar to Victor's first day of school. -PM

  6. I think the narrarator of the story Seventh Grade by Gary Soto is the author. I think this because the story is told in third person. One example of this is "On the first day of school, Victor stood in line half an hour before he came to a wobbly card table". If it was told by Victor, it would have said "On the first day of school I stood in line half an hour before I came to a wobbly card table." This helps me understand more detail about the faces of each person.
One thing in the text I can connect to is wanting to go to France. I've wanted to go to France for a long time. Victor says " He already spoke Spanish and English, but he thought that some day he might want to travel to France, where it was cool: not like in Fresno, where summer day reach up to 110 degrees in the shade." I want to go to France because of Paris' architecture like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumphe. This is one major difference between me and Victor. We want to go to France for different reasons.

  7. The narrator in this text is Victor Rodriguez. I think the author chose this voice because Victor had alot to do with seventh grade. Victor also was the voice because he didn't like seventh grade at first until he started talking to Teresa and becoming friends. Here is a quote that that shows this voice: Victor lingered, keeping his head down and staring at his desk. He wanted to leave when she did so he could bump into her and say something clever. This helps me understand that he really is struggling to talk to her and become friends. This story reminds me of another story that I wrote. It is about a girl who likes a boy and tries to talk to him in the halls and during lunch. And then finely they talk and become friends. ~Kiana Wiggins

    Question 2
In this story Victor is like Goerge Lopez because he is humorous.
Another similarities is that The school is multicultral like ISAAC
One difference is that we don't have english class at isaac

Nan parabòl sa a Victor se tankou Goerge Lopez paske li drôle. Yon lòt similitudes se lekòl la se multicultral tankou yon ISAAC diferans se pou nou pa gen klas anglè nan isaac

  9. In this story, Victor is similar to Cyrus in my own life. For example, he does the most weird's things to get there attention its so weird. Another similarity is Cyrus does not leave you alone he follows you everywhere it's annoying. One difference that I noticed is that Victor will try not to annoy you and Cyrus really doesn't care if he annoys you. I think these similarities and difference show that almost every seventh grade boy are the same.

  11. The narrator in this text is the author. I think that the author chose this voice because it was the personality of him from when he was in that grade. One quote from the story that helps me understand that he doesn't mind being bothered is when he said "Oh no, I like being bothered. Another quote that tells me that victor is taking french is when he tells micheal, " French, how bout you?" after micheal asked him, "what classes are you taking?" Also, I didn't like the way the author used his voice because he kept saying scowl and he was obsessed with teresa. -anandah h.

  15. 1) The narrator in text is Michael. I think the author chose this voice because i think that he probably wanted to say it in his own way. This helps me understand that Michael was the one that was narrating the story. Here is another quote that shows this voice: She was cute. And good at math, too, victor thought as he walked in the homeroom class.

  16. Question 1
This text is written in question and answer form. I think the author choose this form to show the kids what the teen actually said in response. Here is a quote showing the ext structure "This is Laura she had diabetes, How Is your life with diabetes?" I love this structure you can read it way better and faster.

    Kesyon 1

    Question 2
One important thing i would explain in a talk to my class about my class about is insulin. Insulin from this text is important because diabetes is about insulin.
